IN5ULIN
An older couple running into the sea, arms raised

Say hello to your insulin.

Your glucose can look normal for twenty years while your insulin quietly climbs. Glucose is the last thing to change. Insulin is the first. Measure the first.

The twenty-year gap

Your glucose is the last to know.

Here is what nobody tells you at your annual check-up. When your cells stop responding well to insulin, your pancreas compensates. It makes more. Your glucose stays right where it should be, and your blood test says you are fine.

That can go on for a very long time. In one study of people with diabetic parents, high insulin showed up one to two decades before diabetes did. The glucose test only catches the problem at the end of that road.

Insulin is the early warning. Glucose is the alarm that goes off after the fire has started.

The scale of it

Most of it starts with insulin resistance. Most of it is found late.

Type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease and fatty liver are linked by the same underlying problem: metabolic syndrome, with insulin resistance at its centre. The World Health Organization notes that type 2 diabetes is often diagnosed years after it begins, when complications have already arisen.

830 million

people living with diabetes in 2022, up from 200 million in 1990. More than 95% have type 2.

1 in 7

people worldwide, 1.1 billion, were living with obesity in 2024. Adult obesity has more than doubled since 1990.

1.4 billion

adults aged 30–79 had high blood pressure in 2024. 44% of them did not know.

19.8 million

deaths from cardiovascular disease in 2022, about a third of all deaths. The world’s leading cause of death.

Questions

Why insulin and not just glucose?+

Glucose is the last number to change. Your body holds it steady by pushing out more insulin, sometimes for years. By the time glucose rises, insulin has often been high for a long time. Measuring insulin shows you the strain while there is still room to act.

Is IN5ULIN a diagnostic tool?+

No. IN5ULIN is not a diagnostic tool. If you have concerns about your health, or a result you do not understand, talk to a qualified healthcare professional.

What is a good fasting insulin level?+

There is no single agreed optimal value, and reference ranges differ between laboratories. That is why tracking your own trend over time is more useful than any one reading. See the Learn page for how insulin and glucose combine into HOMA-IR.

Where can I see my readings?+

Three ways: on the reader’s own screen, in the IN5ULIN app, or through an API feed into your favourite fitness tracker, so your insulin sits alongside your sleep, steps and training.

Do I pay when I pre-order?+

No. A pre-order reserves your place in the queue. We email you to confirm price, delivery date and availability before anything is charged, and you can cancel until then.

What do I need to buy?+

Start with the IN5ULIN starter kit: the reader, which you keep, with cartridges for 4 tests. After that, a monthly refill subscription of 10, 25 or 50 reader cartridges (€35, €75 or €100 a month), with free postage. Cancel anytime. One cartridge per reading, and each pack comes with its own batch ID card.
